About The Position

This position will follow written instructions with daily route sheets, blueprints of components to be joined-together, and possibly at multiple angles. Measure, and align workpieces using straightedges, clamps, tape measures, protractors, and calipers. Perform GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) welding on a variety of materials, and thicknesses, sizes, and orientations. Inspect welds for accuracy, and consistency. Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements provided. Follow established safety, and quality policies, procedures, and practices. This position works in a production environment. Position will report directly to Production supervisor and will have daily interaction with other team members. This job description describes the general nature, and level of work performed by the team member assigned to this position. Requirements

  • Prefer 4-5 years of experience working with MIG, and TIG welding.
  • Position requires good mathematical abilities, strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Position requires the ability to operate precision measuring devices such as tape Measures, Calipers, Protractors, Micrometers, and other various measuring tools.
  • Must have experience with Grinders, Buffers, and other hand-held tools.
  • Experience with selecting the correct Torch tips, filler rods, and flux according to material thickness.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and use engineering print layouts.
  • Must have experience using Weld fixtures, and/or Jigs for aligning workpieces prior to welding.
  • Must be capable of safe operation of gas, and non-gas welding equipment in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Experience reading and understanding weld symbols on blueprints.
  • Some safety equipment must be worn when working on or around equipment in the shop. Bending, lifting, and pushing up to 40 lbs. is required.
  • High school diploma, or GED
  • Ability to attain an AWS Weld Certificate after 60 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of XYZ and LRA coordinates is a plus.
