About The Position

The Welder will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment. The welder will be required to complete small/simple fabrications and large complex fabrications to specifications. The Welder is required to comply with all MPI policies.

Requirements

  • 1 year of relevant experience

  • Good understanding of basic mathematics
  • Ability to: Read blueprints
  • Read measuring devices (Tape Measures, )
  • Work alone with little to no direction
  • Read and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
  • Use proper personal protective equipment
  • Strength Level: 25-40 pounds anything over 40 pounds will need two people or lifting assist device
  • Must me able to complete a background check and pass a pre-employment drug test prior to starting and after offer is made.

Responsibilities

  • Read and comprehend product blueprints and layouts to accurately fit structural parts together in shop in preparation to welding
  • Understand American Welding Society standard symbols
  • Plan details of work order procedures; gather required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job
  • Lay out guidelines or marks on metal parts and cut metal with a cutting torch
  • Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
  • Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage
  • Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded
  • Weld metal structural components together in the fabrication of stainless steel, aluminum, and other structures
  • Perform first piece inspections as well as all subsequent inspections as required by RMF standards
  • Adjust welding equipment to its prescribed settings
  • Utilize safety devices and wear all mandatory personal protective safety equipment
  • Operates power tools
  • Operate forklift if needed once certified
  • Change gas tanks as needed
  • Perform simple maintenance repairs as
  • Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered
  • All other duties assigned
