About The Position

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES General description of main/primary duties and responsibilities of the job, aptitude, level of complexity, span of control, autonomy, decision making and judgement. It is central and necessary to the satisfactory performance of the job. Includes the following and other duties as assigned. Under limited guidance, this position will: Supervise work to ensure all employees and contractors comply with safety processes and procedures as well as NEC code. Supervise and coordinate all instrumentation and electrical duties including commissioning and maintenance of all I&E equipment, field communication network, SCADA development and maintenance. Train staff to use and understand the principles of operation of all meters and instruments used and applicable to I&E processes. Participate in the Pre-Start Safety Review (PSSR) process with other teams to audit and check for completion. Responsible for the constant monitoring and evaluation of instrumentation and electrical related rules, regulations, and parameters. Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Best Management Practices (BMPs), and task specific procedures that will ensure safe operations of I&E team and facilities. Partner with the contractors to design and improve software. Help plan and build internal expertise on programming and developing software. Anticipate, evaluate, and troubleshoot abnormal and/ or unusual operating conditions to ensure safe and efficient operations. Identify and analyze failures, indicate underlying issues, and perform Root Cause Failure Analysis as necessary. Maintain daily costs and meet OPEX/ CAPEX budget expectations. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education, Experience, Licensure (minimum level required) High School Diploma or equivalent. At least five (5) years of natural gas industry and/ or Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) experience. At least one (1) year of professional management or supervisory experience. Good understanding of the Instrumentation & Electrical programming software. Good working knowledge of the National Electrical Code, API RP 500, and American Gas Association standards. Proficient with AC and DC voltage systems and associated circuitry. Proficient with all aspects of Programmable Logic Controllers and RTUs. Strong knowledge of piping and instrument diagrams, signal flow diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel drawings, one-line drawings, loop sheets, and wire lists. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, etc. and use/ operation of standard office equipment. Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with staff, management, customers, and vendors. Good collaborative and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead. Able to present, demonstrate, teach or guide others in performance of assigned work. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, and foster and encourage teamwork. Ability to effectively work with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness. SAFETY SENSITIVE RELATED If applicable. For designation above and field related positions. Ability to safely operate vehicles, equipment, and tools. Able to recognize and apply safety processes and procedures. Possess valid driver’s license and clean driving record (MVR) that meet Company’s Insurance qualifications to operate Company vehicle. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This role will have supervisory responsibilities over Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) personnel. Supervises two (2) or more Full-Time Employees regularly. Responsible for regularly making decisions and/or recommendations concerning: Interviewing/hiring. Mentoring/ongoing training. Setting or adjusting work hours. Plan, appoint, and direct the work. Appraise performance/productivity and efficiency. Recommend advancement, promotions, or other changes in status. Handle complaints/grievances and disciplinary issues. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Excludes occasional visitation to the field – reference Travel section. Both Office and Field Related: Job is performed in both the office and in the field work environment. Approximately 25% in the office and 75% in the field. This position may be subject to: Exposure to computer screens and requires regular use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. Extreme Cold and Heat: temperatures typically below 32o F or above 100o F for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions as wind, rain, snow, and humidity. Noise: there is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level. Vibration: exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body. Confined Space: work areas large enough for individual to enter, limited means of entry or exit, and not designed for continue occupancy. Hazards: includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to chemicals, combustibles, explosives, etc. HOURS / SHIFTS Regular business hours. Available for responsibilities on weekends and holidays for urgent issues or emergencies during off hours, as needed. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Minimally lift, push, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds. Minimally be able to bend, stoop, crouch, etc. Usual field site/location visits may present more strenuous exertion than office work. Minimal amount of traversing through challenging terrain to perform work, evaluate sites and conditions, inspect equipment/assets, etc. TRAVEL Approximate amount of time. Minimal travel may be required to other locations. Regular travel to Company’s field operations and/or offices. Approximately 75% of time in field.
