Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters degree or equivalent in education/appropriate field (required)
  • English proficiency with excellent verbal and written communication skills (required)
  • Level B2 required, C1+ preferred (based on Common European Framework of References for Languages) or equivalent certification such as TOEFL or IETLS.
  • Native in the target teaching language as required (Spanish/French/Chinese) with excellent verbal and written communication skills (required)
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in age and developmentally appropriate teaching methods (required)
  • Technological and computer competency (Google Suite, database management, etc.)
  • Ability to work well independently or as part of a team, and provide direction to others when needed.
  • Ability to demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills and to exercise sound judgment

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility as the subject area teacher and/or as a co-teacher for one or more classes of assigned students, promoting the general progress and well being of individual students and of any class or group of students assigned, ensuring their holistic developmental needs are met – personal, social, emotional, and academic.
  • Plan, prepare and teach high quality lessons following course objectives and outlines for course of study in line with current best practice, taking into account the international dimension of the school population and the ISDenver Learning Principles and curriculum guidelines, including DEIB-based Social and Emotional curriculum.
  • Challenge and inspire students by matching learning to the individual educational needs and learning styles of students in the classes or groups assigned.
  • Record student progress and attainment, giving timely, constructive, and developmentally appropriate oral and written feedback as outlined in ISDenver policies.
  • Maintain good order and discipline among the students, safeguarding their health and safety whenever they are authorized to be on the school premises and when they are engaged in authorized school activities elsewhere.
  • Ensure an organized, supportive, and stimulating high-quality learning environment at all times.
  • Carry out all administrative and organizational tasks as required, including attendance records and supervision of students, following timings and ensuring that there is always a prompt start and end to lessons and recess times and that school policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Actively promote positive professional partnerships between home and school by providing frequent and timely communication on classroom activities and guidance and advice to parents on educational and social/emotional matters, discussing academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements throughout the year.
  • Manage and maintain the classroom in compliance with requirements of government regulations and ISDenver safety policies and procedures.
  • Lead class field trips, overnight trips, and/or other out-of-classroom experiences according to school policies and procedures
  • Participate fully in supervision duties (lunch/recess/etc.), staff meetings, parent meetings, workshops and various co-curricular, extra-curricular and PTO activities that promote the school’s programs and reputation.
  • Actively collaborate within and across academic departments and programs to ensure high standards of learning and teaching across the curriculum to create a sense of cohesion and spirit within the team, appropriately support learners, and promote successful transition for all students.
  • As appropriate (generally in ECE), work in close collaboration with assigned Teaching Assistant(s), managing their workload and tasks so that student learning is prioritized and supported fully and appropriately during the school day.
  • Participate fully in the ISDenver Growth and Evaluation Process.
  • Actively participate in school-sponsored Professional Development (PD) workshops and training to remain current with best practice and support the School Strategic Plan.
  • Utilize a growth mindset towards professional growth.
  • Be prepared to share best practice with colleagues through opportunities such as team or co-teaching, peer observations, modeling and assisting with PD workshops.
