About The Position

As the Middle School Visual Arts Teacher, you will design and deliver high-quality visual arts instruction for scholars in grades 5–7. You will build strong studio habits, artistic skills, and creative confidence while maintaining a structured, joyful classroom culture. This role supports the school’s enrichment program and contributes to a well-rounded scholar experience through visual arts education. This is a part-time, hourly position serving scholars three days per week. As the Middle School Visual Arts Teacher, you will: Plan and teach engaging visual arts lessons aligned to grade-level standards and school expectations. Build scholar skill in drawing, painting, mixed media, and foundational art techniques. Establish clear studio routines, procedures, and material management systems. Create a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes creativity and craftsmanship. Assess scholar work and provide clear, actionable feedback. Prepare student artwork for display, showcases, or school events as requested. Collaborate with school leaders and staff to align projects with school culture and themes. Maintain organized inventory and responsible use of art supplies and equipment. Communicate professionally with staff and families when needed regarding scholar progress and projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts, Art Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience teaching or leading visual arts with upper elementary or middle school scholars (grades 5–7 preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a structured classroom and hands-on materials.
  • Strong knowledge of visual arts techniques and media.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Commitment to high expectations and positive scholar culture.
