About The Position

Kent Place School seeks a Middle School Track Coach for the 2025-2026 season. Hours: 2:30-3:30 pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday (games may finish later and occur on Thursdays) Season: Spring, March 23-May 29, 2026 Requirements: Prior coaching/playing experience at the collegiate level preferred; experience at the high school level required. Understand the fundamentals of track. Have the ability to motivate players to reach their potential. Must have exceptional leadership skills. Must possess knowledge of rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport. Administrative Duties and Personal Skills Must have excellent communication skills. Strong administrative skills. Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Maintains, along with coaches, the proper supervision of student-athletes at practices, games, and on school-provided transportation. Effective, active listening skills. Promotes good public relations through professional standards of conduct and presentation and professional courtesy. Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators. Have the ability to make quick decisions under pressure. Ability to work effectively with others. Organizational and problem-solving skills. Adhere to best practices of diversity and inclusion so that interactions with students, colleagues, and other constituencies highlight awareness, competence, and sensitivity. Other duties as assigned: Attends a mandatory preseason training session with the Athletic Dept. Participates in special activities, awards nights, admission panels, open houses, and pep assemblies.
