About The Position

St. Mary Catholic Virtue School seeks a middle school theology teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. We are a Preschool-8th-grade school with an enrollment of 430 students. Summary of Position: This position is suited for the teacher who is passionate about their Catholic faith and desires to further our students in their spiritual journey. This requires a teacher with a solid, in-depth knowledge of Roman Catholicism and be a practicing Catholic committed to his/her own faith life and that of the students. The theology teacher is responsible for assisting students in their faith formation, utilizing a comprehensive theology curriculum. They accomplish this by creating engaging, challenging, and innovative lessons that inspire students to pursue further inquiry and study. St. Mary Catholic Virtue School encourages teacher collaboration through the sharing of strategies, resources, and ideas that will lead to opportunities where faith and academics can be woven together. Teachers must have a willingness to be an active participant in the larger school community and contribute significantly to our school culture.

Requirements

  • Must be a practicing Catholic committed to his/her own faith life and that of the students,
  • Bachelor’s degree or M.A. in Theology from an accredited college or university
  • Teaching experience in middle or high school
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), organizational and time-management skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver instruction that aligns with the doctrines of Roman Catholicism, and engages students in active and rigorous learning.
  • Serve as the homeroom teacher and mentor for 7th grade boys while developing their understanding and practice of the virtue of chastity through various programs and projects within the middle school. The homeroom teacher serves as the touchpoint for and advocate of their students.
  • Promote student achievement by effectively managing a classroom of diverse learners that fosters an environment of inquiry and appreciation of the students Catholic faith
  • Possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with students, parents, clergy, and colleagues. Maintain open lines of communication with parents, informing them of their child’s progress, and addressing any concerns that either party has.
