About The Position

The Middle School Special Education Teacher - Resource Room (Non-Continuing Leave Replacement) position is designed for a dedicated educator who will provide services for eligible students with a focus on their specific learning styles and needs. This includes academics, self-management, living skills, and more. A successful partnership and collaboration with classroom and content area teachers is key to the success of all students with disabilities. The position is set to start on February 3, 2025, and requires a commitment of 7.50 hours per day for 183 days per year.

Requirements

• Successful experience or demonstrated commitment toward working with culturally and racially diverse students, families, and communities.
• Completion of a teacher certification program at an accredited college or university and valid Washington state certification with endorsements in Special Education.
• Knowledge of strength-focused instructional strategies that promote autonomy, cooperation, and student voice.
• Experience in creating an orderly and purposeful classroom environment.
• Skill in planning and delivering differentiated instruction.
• Ability to support students who exhibit unsafe stress responses and recognize the role of anxiety in their progress.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.

Responsibilities

• Provide services for eligible students focusing on their specific learning styles and needs.
• Collaborate with classroom and content area teachers to support students with disabilities.

• Plan, prepare, and deliver differentiated instruction that promotes active learning.
• Support adult learners in understanding best instructional strategies for students with disabilities.
• Lead, schedule, and support para-educators assigned to the classroom.
• Maintain records with strong attention to detail and confidentiality.

Benefits

• Base salary range of $60,678 - $114,367.
• Professional learning stipend of $6,660 - $12,552.
• Supplemental contract for six additional days (per diem).
