GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES direction of the Division Head and in collaboration with members of the World Language Department, the person in this position will be responsible for planning and implementing Spanish lessons for middle school students at a basic and intermediate level. Qualified candidates will be proficient in utilizing a Comprehensible Input and/or TPRS ( Teaching Proficiency Through Reading and Storytelling) model or be willing to be trained in this model. Candidates will also be able to create and provide an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of adolescents to ensure success for each student as well as monitor and evaluate academic outcomes. All Cape Henry Collegiate teachers are expected to communicate and interact with students, parents, staff and community in a manner that represents the mission and core values of the school. POSITION DUTIES Plan and implement lessons that meet the curricular guidelines for the introductory and intermediate levels of Spanish (levels 1 and 2). Collaborate with colleagues around best practices according to the Comprehensible Input (CI) model of instruction. Plan and implement effective classroom management strategies to promote student learning and academic success Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Create a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives Assess student progress and provide regular feedback on strengths, areas for improvement, and opportunities for growth. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes mutual respect, cooperation, and academic excellence. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress, challenges, and opportunities for growth Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills, stay current with trends and best practices in education, and contribute to the school community Collaborate with the English department and the grade level team to support both curricular goals as well as the social, emotional, and academic well-being of students. Attend staff meetings, participate in community events, and serve on staff committees as required for a full-time position. Recognize the importance of diversity, inclusion and belonging, as tenets of our school mission statement and strategic plan, and desiring to be purposeful in planning curriculum which values and supports those tenets.
