Qualified middle school social studies teachers should effectively organize and deliver education curricula to groups of students. A Social Studies Teacher must understand the fundamentals of their teaching subject and be able to explain them to students as needed. This position must also supervise and assess student performance. Plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program within the classroom that promotes a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The role of a Social Studies teacher is to inspire, motivate, encourage, and educate learners. Social Studies teachers should have excellent interpersonal, communication, and debate skills. They should be able to remain calm under pressure, have strong multitasking abilities, and have a sound knowledge of current events. Position may require tutoring after school. Position is exempt from overtime pay.
