About The Position
The Expedition School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to fill the role of a Long Term Substitute Middle School Social Studies Teacher. This full-time position is expected to last approximately four months, starting on December 16, 2024, and concluding on May 2, 2025. The successful candidate will work in a supportive environment alongside a small team of educators, utilizing pre-planned social studies lessons while also incorporating their own creative teaching methods. The Expedition School is recognized for its exceptional school culture and commitment to project-based learning, having been ranked as the #2 charter middle school and #7 overall middle school in North Carolina by US News and World Reports. In this role, the teacher will be responsible for engaging students in authentic learning experiences, fostering a growth mindset, and supporting the diverse needs of all students, including those with special needs. The position requires collaboration with fellow staff members, effective communication with parents, and participation in various school meetings, including IEP and transition meetings for 7th and 8th graders. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, flexibility, and a strong desire to help adolescents thrive in their educational journey, contributing to a collaborative and innovative teaching environment.
