About The Position

The position requires applicants to have experience with middle school science, a Bachelor's degree, and eligibility to work in a Massachusetts charter school, which includes passing the appropriate MTEL tests or being certified to teach middle/high school science. An advanced degree in education and teaching experience with middle school (grades 6-8) students is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, developing and implementing class curriculum compliant with state standards under the supervision of the Principal or designee.
  • Designing and teaching science to middle school students.
  • Providing direct services to students, consulting with other professionals, meeting and discussing issues with parents, planning, delivering, and evaluating instructional outcomes, and conducting the research needed to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Delivering direct instruction in the classroom and as a field experience.
  • Consulting with parents, other professionals, and agencies outside the classroom or school.
  • Working as a team member, sharing common planning, professional development, curriculum design, and teaching responsibilities with your team which includes English and Chinese speaking teachers.
  • Assessing student progress toward curricular goals using multiple measures for formative and summative assessments.
  • Using standardized and internal testing to assess class performance and inform teaching practice.
  • Making adjustments in instructional methods to improve student achievement, measure individual growth, highlight areas needing individual attention, and identify areas for professional development and curriculum enhancement.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by administration that are common to other teaching assignments (e.g. lunch, study hall, etc).
