The Middle School Science Lab Coordinator plays a vital role in fostering curiosity, exploration, and STEM identity in our students. This leader will design and facilitate hands-on lab experiences that bring science to life, deepen content understanding, and build the skills necessary for success in high school, college, and beyond.

  • Design, plan, and facilitate engaging, standards-aligned science lab experiences for middle school students.
  • Build students' STEM identity by creating opportunities for hands-on inquiry, problem-solving, and experimentation.
  • Collaborate with classroom science teachers to align lab experiences with core instruction and reinforce key concepts.
  • Ensure all lab activities prioritize student safety by maintaining clear procedures, training students on safe lab practices, and upholding safety regulations.
  • Organize and maintain lab materials, equipment, and technology to ensure smooth facilitation of experiments.
  • Support data-driven instruction by incorporating formative and summative assessments tied to lab experiences.
  • Serve as an advisor/mentor to a small group of students, supporting their academic progress and social-emotional well-being.
  • Communicate regularly with families to celebrate student learning and ensure strong school-home partnerships.
  • Participate in grade-level teams, professional development, and school-wide initiatives to strengthen culture and outcomes.
  • Contribute to school-wide duties that promote student supervision, reinforce positive culture, and strengthen community.
  • Attend field trips, family events, and other community-building experiences as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in science education, STEM field, or related area required.
  • Current teaching certification/licensure in science preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years teaching or lab facilitation experience preferred.
  • Experience working with middle school students strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of science content and practices, with the ability to design age-appropriate lab activities.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects, materials, and safety requirements.
  • Strong facilitation and classroom management skills in a hands-on, lab-based environment.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills with colleagues, students, and families.
  • Attention to detail, creativity, and flexibility in designing and implementing engaging lab experiences.
