About The Position

The Teacher position at City Day Community School involves planning, implementing, and evaluating student learning experiences. The teacher will help students identify goals and make appropriate choices while encouraging parental involvement. The role requires a valid Ohio teacher's license or certificate and adherence to health requirements, including a negative tuberculosis test and a clear criminal record. The teacher will be responsible for creating effective learning experiences, maintaining a positive learning environment, and collaborating with other educators to enhance the educational process.

Requirements

  • Meets all mandated health requirements (e.g., a negative tuberculosis test).

Responsibilities

  • Prepares the assigned classroom for instruction and requisitions essential supplies and equipment.
  • Teaches scheduled classes and creates effective learning experiences that align with the district's adopted course of study.
  • Upholds board policies and follows administrative procedures.
  • Promotes a favorable image of the school district and encourages community partnerships.
  • Implements effective classroom management procedures and maintains high standards for student conduct.
  • Develops and maintains a positive learning environment and stimulates student interest.
  • Evaluates the needs of students and plans interventions based on available information.
  • Communicates high expectations and shows an active interest in student progress.
  • Helps students develop critical-thinking, problem-solving, and creativity skills.
  • Collaborates with other teachers and shares knowledge and resources.
  • Incorporates technology in instructional and records management activities.
  • Helps students take full advantage of the learning environment.
  • Administers standardized and alternative tests as directed and follows test security procedures.
  • Maintains accurate records and submits reports on time.
  • Plans work assignments and monitors assigned staff and volunteers under the direction of the principal.
  • Strives to develop rapport with others and maintains confidentiality.
  • Evaluates and documents student progress and assigns grades.
  • Reports evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law.
  • Makes referrals to the student assistance team when needed and works with team members on plans for identified students.
  • Helps prepare and implement Section 504 and Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for eligible students.
  • Supports an inclusive educational environment for students with disabilities.
  • Takes precautions to ensure student safety and supervises non-classroom activities when assigned.
  • Participates in parent conferences, open houses, and other required school events.
  • Supports parent organizations and student activities as time permits.
  • Shares in the responsibility for authorized committee work and school activities.
  • Actively participates in staff meetings and district development programs.
  • Participates in professional growth opportunities to remain current with instructional strategies.
  • Accepts responsibility for personal decisions and conduct.
