About The Position

The person in this position works under the supervision and direction of the building administrator and is responsible for teaching 6 - 8 grade students in the Science and Math content areas. This individual must work cooperatively with other members of the staff to provide students optimal learning opportunities, as well as a well-planned, organized instructional program in a safe and supportive learning environment.

Requirements

• Current Oregon Teaching License with a Science and a Math endorsement
• Demonstrated positive classroom management skills and student-centered instructional skills
• Knowledge and skills in instruction/learning methods and techniques
• Knowledge and application of skills in teaching NGSS aligned curriculum and Common Core aligned Math curriculum and using assessment data
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, administrators, students, parents, and patrons
• Ability to meet the Junction City School District Standards of Competent Teacher Performance and the Oregon Standards for Professional Educators
• Ability to perform computer skills and incorporate the use of technology in the classroom
• Responsibility to know, understand, and adhere to school rules and District policies
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a current first aid/CPR card

• Experience in or ability to teach in the following area: Middle School Science and Middle School Math
• Experience teaching with Google Classroom
• Experience with experiential learning
• Experience with iReady/Ready
• Experience in or ability to teach in a middle school
• Knowledge of student portfolios, work samples, and benchmark activities to monitor student learning growth and meet NGSS Standards and Common Core Standards
• Collaborative/team building skills
• Knowledge of Special Education
• Working knowledge of Basic Spanish
