About The Position

The Middle School STEM Instructional Coach is a full-time member of the school leadership team who supports teachers in aligning instruction with Brilla’s curricular and instructional vision, ensuring student mastery of academic targets across science, math, and technology-related disciplines. Supervised by the Assistant Principal, the STEM Instructional Coach acts as the primary content expert and pedagogical leader for all STEM components within the school. This includes ensuring vertical and horizontal curriculum alignment, providing targeted coaching and professional development, analyzing student achievement data, and developing and adapting curriculum materials to meet Brilla’s Classical model and the needs of all learners. The ideal candidate has deep STEM content expertise, thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environments, and is passionate about data-informed, inquiry-driven learning that integrates Brilla’s emphasis on Truth, Beauty, and Goodness. This position requires a positive, flexible, solutions-oriented, organized, and reflective leader who can balance multiple roles and responsibilities with grace and virtue. Instructional Coaches work daily with teachers and in close collaboration with the Assistant Principal, Principal, and Brilla Network Academics Team to ensure that curricular materials are consistently adapted and implemented to meet the needs of teachers and the classroom. In addition to planning and coaching requirements, Instructional Coaches maintain materials inventories and requisitioning, attend regular content meetings, and actively deepen their own knowledge of content, standards, and Classical pedagogy. Brilla Instructional Coaches daily support teachers through active observation, live coaching and must have a deep appreciation for inductive, inquiry-driven, data-informed, student-engaged learning. They must offer as well as accept, implement, and seek feedback. They will manage multiple concurrent tasks and responsibilities, while inspiring outstanding achievement in a joyful, vigorous, and collaborative work environment.

Requirements

  • Unwavering commitment to Brilla’s mission of holistic child development
  • Deep content knowledge in middle school STEM subjects, with a preference for math or science degree backgrounds
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher (STEM-related field preferred)
  • Current middle school teaching certification
  • Demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching and evidence of strong student achievement
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills
  • Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse communities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in coaching teachers or leading teams (preferred)
  • Knowledge of special education practices and support (preferred)
  • Appreciation for Classical education and inquiry-based learning
  • Spanish language proficiency (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily classroom observations, live coaching and provide feedback to urgently develop teachers instructional practice
  • Organize and lead campus and cross-network teacher development meetings, developing their content knowledge, data analysis and action planning and pedagogical skills
  • Collaborate with Assistant Principal and Instructional Leadership Team to analyze assessment data and create targeted interventions for student academic goals
  • Support teachers in achieving school-wide goals aligned with curriculum, pedagogy, and professional evaluation expectations
  • Facilitate campus and cross-network professional development exercises and workshops on curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment cycles
  • Manage assessment cycles, including scheduling, quality assurance, and preparation
  • Lead curriculum development aligned with New York State Next Generation standards, adapting materials as needed
  • Coach teachers in literacy content knowledge and pedagogical practices
  • Foster positive relationships with school stakeholders and actively participate in school events
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, collaborate with colleagues, and provide constructive feedback for continuous improvement in teaching methodologies and school culture
  • Perform other duties, as assigned
