The Middle School Health Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering a comprehensive health education program that promotes students' physical, emotional, and social well-being. The teacher fosters a safe and engaging classroom environment that supports learning, encourages healthy decision-making, and aligns with district and state health education standards.

  • Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate health lessons based on national and state health standards.
  • Teach topics including but not limited to nutrition, mental and emotional health, human development, substance abuse prevention, personal safety, and disease prevention.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments.
  • Analyze student data to inform instruction and provide targeted support.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of grades, attendance, and student performance.
  • Establish a respectful and supportive classroom climate.
  • Promote open discussions and critical thinking around sensitive health topics.
  • Reinforce classroom expectations and behavioral standards consistent with school policies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, and school nurses to support student well-being.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and health education objectives.
  • Participate in school-wide health initiatives and interdisciplinary activities.
  • Stay current with best practices in health education and adolescent development.
  • Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and relevant trainings.
  • Uphold ethical standards and maintain confidentiality in all student-related matters.
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Education, Physical Education, or a related field
  • Valid state teaching certification in Health Education (Grades 6-8 or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of adolescent development and public health principles
