About The Position

As a Middle School ELA Teacher’s Assistant at Mott Hall Bridges Academy, you’ll play a vital role in supporting Grades 6–8 classrooms through consistent, in-class academic support.

This role focuses on push-in classroom support during ELA instruction, helping students strengthen reading comprehension, writing skills, vocabulary development, and overall literacy confidence throughout the school day.

Requirements

• Passionate about supporting middle school students’ academic growth in ELA.
• Reliable, professional, and committed to showing up every day.
• Strong communicators and collaborative team players.
• Experienced with children (formally or informally) — school experience preferred, but training is provided.
• Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field.
• Able to adapt to different learning environments and student needs.
• Cleared (or eligible for clearance) through DOE PETS background check and fingerprinting.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide push-in classroom support during ELA instruction.
• Support teachers in delivering engaging, standards-aligned literacy lessons.
• Offer one-on-one and small group academic support to students.
• Reinforce reading comprehension strategies, writing development, and vocabulary skills.
• Help manage classroom routines and foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
• Assist with organizing materials and preparing instructional resources.
• Monitor student progress and share observations with teachers and staff.
• Collaborate with educators to meet student learning needs.
• Attend required training sessions and staff meetings.
