About The Position

In this dual-site ELA role , you’ll support middle school students across two Bronx schools, combining in-class push-in support with focused Regents preparation tutoring. During the school day at Bronx Green Middle School , you’ll provide consistent push-in ELA classroom support for Grades 6–8 . In the afternoons at Bronx Park Middle School , you’ll lead small group Grade 8 ELA Regents preparation sessions , helping students build the literacy skills and confidence needed for exam success. This is a high-impact opportunity for someone who enjoys both collaborative classroom work and targeted small group instruction.

Requirements

  • Passionate about supporting middle school students’ literacy growth.
  • Confident leading small group instruction and Regents preparation.
  • Reliable, professional, and committed to showing up consistently.
  • Strong communicators and collaborative team players.
  • Experienced with children (formally or informally) — school experience preferred, but training is provided.
  • Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field.
  • Able to adapt to different learning environments and student needs.
  • Cleared (or eligible for clearance) through DOE PETS background check and fingerprinting.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide push-in classroom support during ELA instruction for Grades 6–8.
  • Support teachers in delivering engaging, standards-aligned literacy lessons.
  • Offer one-on-one and small group academic support to students.
  • Reinforce reading comprehension strategies, writing development, and vocabulary growth.
  • Help manage classroom routines and foster an inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and share observations with teachers and staff.
  • Lead Grade 8 ELA Regents small group tutoring sessions.
  • Implement structured Regents preparation materials and test readiness strategies.
  • Support students in analytical writing, text evidence usage, and exam response structure.
  • Track student progress and adjust instruction to meet learning needs.
  • Attend required training sessions and staff meetings as scheduled.
