About The Position
The Middle School Counselor at Sizer School plays a crucial role in supporting students in Grades 7 and 8 as they navigate their educational journey. This position is designed to ensure that students achieve their academic and personal goals, acting as an advocate and liaison among students, parents, school staff, and community agencies. The Counselor is responsible for fostering a supportive environment that promotes student success and well-being. In this role, the Counselor will engage in various school meetings and collaborate closely with the Principal, other Counselors, Coaches, and instructional staff to address the diverse needs of students. The Counselor will provide academic counseling and planning, consistently monitoring student progress throughout the school year. They will also develop and implement tailored academic support plans, ensuring that each student receives the guidance necessary to thrive. The Counselor will lead and participate in important conferences, such as Family Group Decision-Making meetings and Special Education Team meetings, to facilitate communication and collaboration among all stakeholders involved in a student's education. Additionally, the Counselor will teach guidance classes and conduct workshops for families, providing essential information on educational and social matters. By maintaining accurate student records and analyzing counseling data, the Counselor will contribute to the continuous improvement of student support services.
