About The Position

The Middle School Coed Assistant Volleyball Coach for the 2025-2026 season is responsible for providing leadership in the development and improvement of the sport program. This includes coaching individual participants in the skills necessary for success in volleyball, promoting good sportsmanship, and ensuring compliance with all rules and regulations. The coach will also oversee the safety conditions of the facility, manage team equipment, and assist in the preparation and administration of the athletic program budget.

Requirements

  • Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate or eligibility or County Substitute Certificate.
  • Minimum experience as determined by the board.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the sport, sports training and conditioning, injury prevention and management.
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment and high standards of conduct for athletes.
  • Good physical health and ability to perform assigned duties.
  • Excellent integrity and good moral character.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Current residency in New Jersey or agreement to obtain residency within one year of employment.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
  • Evidence of a criminal record history check and clearance by the Department of Education.
  • Pass the state required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test.

Responsibilities

  • Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for success in the sport involved.
  • Assume responsibility for team members under supervision; promote good sportsmanship and enforce all rules and regulations.
  • Comply with board-adopted emergency medical procedures for all practice sessions and competitive levels.
  • Select team members and verify their eligibility according to established physical and academic requirements.
  • Plan and schedule a regular program of practice in season and attend all contests of the assigned sport.
  • Oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area in which the assigned sport is conducted.
  • Assume responsibility for all team equipment during practice and contests.
  • Assist the athletic director in making arrangements for athletic competitions and related transportation.
  • Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate.
  • Obtain written parent permission for students to participate and file team member records with the athletic director.
  • Assist the athletic director in the preparation and administration of the athletic program budget.
  • Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy.
