Plan, organize, and implement an engaging, appropriate instructional program in a middle school learning environment. Lead campus performances which are scheduled each semester, some working collaboratively with elementary and high school choirs and other performing arts. Attend KMEA All-State and participate in District Choral Assessment. Participate in the annual Fine Arts Festival which involves the OMS Choir. Teach multiple choral classes daily, General music courses may be scheduled as needed. Preparation for performances at regular intervals on campus (afternoon-evening). Performance as part of our annual Fine Arts Festival held each March. Assist/participate in other performances held within OPS. Attend monthly music teacher meetings as scheduled. Working within our already-established music standards curriculum is required. Collaborate with area arts organizations. Demonstrated ability to work with students with diverse backgrounds and abilities. Demonstrated ability to develop strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues in a team setting. Demonstrated ability to motivate students and successfully employ effective teaching methods. Regularly communicate with parents the progress and achievement of their student. Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, including technology in the classroom setting. Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Utilizes ongoing formative assessment and summative evaluation to track and address student needs. Maintains complete and accurate records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation. Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policies. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day through appropriate parent teacher conferences. Individually and cooperatively with other teachers, supervises pupils in and out of classroom activities during the assigned working day. Attends and participates in faculty meetings and serves on assigned committees. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others. Provides for his/her own professional growth in accordance with state and federal regulations. Represents the school in the community effectively and in a positive manner. Maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance during regularly scheduled work hours. Meets the Standards and Indicators set forth in the Certified Personnel Evaluation Plan. Abides by the Professional Code of Ethics for Kentucky Certified School Personnel. Adheres to the requirements of any District or school employee handbook, Owensboro Board of Education policies, and all applicable laws and regulations. Performs all other functions deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor that are reasonable and are covered by local board policy or law.
