About The Position

Valor Collegiate Academies is hiring an exceptional Middle School Assistant Principal of Culture who is excited to share our mission of academic excellence and empowering scholars to live inspired and purposeful lives. This position is for our Valor Voyager (5-8) campus. Our two middle schools, Valor Flagship and Valor Voyager, each have one Principal and three Assistant Principals overseeing culture and academics. While Assistant Principals are partners in ensuring strong academics and school culture, the ideal candidate for this role is an experienced leader with expertise in developing and leading strong school culture systems. Our Assistant Principals serve as integral members of the school leadership team, working collectively with the Principal, Director of Operations, Compass Coaches, network leaders, and teachers to deliver trajectory-changing results for students. Requirements

  • You hold a Bachelor’s in Education or subject area of interest (master’s degree preferred but not required)
  • You have at least 3 years of K-12 teaching experience AND 1 year of formal K-12 school leadership or teacher-leader experience
  • You have a proven track record of success and results in a high-performing, data-driven environment

Responsibilities

  • School Culture Leadership Lead the school's Compass Team (comprised of 2 Compass Coaches) to implement strong culture systems and school-wide routines in order to create a safe, productive, and joyful school environment
  • Oversee the implementation of Valor’s school-wide positive behavioral intervention system (Compass system) to ensure alignment with organizational goals and priorities
  • Serve as a liaison between teachers, parents, leaders, and the community
  • Maintain active and strong relationships with students and families to provide support in meeting academic and/or behavioral goals
  • Serve as a member of the school-based leadership team to ensure effective, building-wide, consistent student discipline systems and routines
  • Instructional Leadership Create targeted, individualized teacher coaching plans to empower teachers’ development through 1:1 weekly coaching and classroom observations
  • Provide teachers with support in intellectual preparation of their subject areas as well as high-quality, actionable data analysis
  • Guide and develop teachers’ understanding of and model the Valor Core Teaching Framework to ensure consistent, high quality instruction
  • Lead and collaborate with teachers and leaders on grade level and/or content-specific meetings
  • Lead professional development sessions and collaborative planning with teachers, and model strong instructional practice to ensure consistent, high-quality instruction
  • Support school culture and academic data analysis alongside the school leadership team to identify gaps in data and effectively problem solve
  • Collaborate with the operations team on matters related to school operations, events, and scholar and building safety
  • School-Based Responsibilities Enforce, uphold, and exhibit school’s values, student management policies and culture
  • Participate in family events and lead family communication efforts, including home visits, family meetings, parent calls, family newsletters, and school events
  • Own arrival duty, recess or lunch duty, and dismissal duty
  • Attend family meetings, new scholar orientation, and other school-wide events
  • Lead and participate in faculty Circles once a week (weekly on Wednesdays after school)
  • Participate as a hiring team member in candidate interviews
