About The Position

The Middle School Art Teacher at Dr. Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy is responsible for fostering creativity and artistic expression among students. This role involves designing and delivering engaging art lessons, developing students' skills in various art mediums, and contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment. The teacher will utilize assessment data to track student progress and employ differentiated instructional strategies to support all learners in achieving their artistic goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education.
  • Licensed to teach in the state of WI.
  • Prior experience as a Teacher (highly recommended).
  • Strong commitment to the mission and vision of the school.
  • Outstanding planning, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and follow-up skills.
  • Capacity to supervise group work.
  • Knowledge of general learning and child development concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and lead as part of the greater school team and community.
  • Develop and implement a standards-aligned art curriculum covering various art forms and techniques.
  • Create engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans that foster creativity and artistic expression.
  • Deliver dynamic and interactive art lessons using various teaching methods, including demonstrations and hands-on activities.
  • Provide guidance and support to students in developing their artistic skills and personal style.
  • Foster visual literacy by teaching students to analyze and interpret visual artworks.
  • Instruct students in various artistic techniques and mediums, including drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and digital art.
  • Develop and implement assessments to measure student progress and understanding of artistic concepts.
  • Provide constructive feedback on students' artworks and guide them in setting and achieving artistic goals.
  • Offer individualized support and differentiated instruction to students with varying skill levels.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
  • Organize and showcase student artwork in exhibitions and public displays.
  • Collaborate with educators, parents, and the community to promote arts education.
  • Stay informed about current trends in art education and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Integrate technology into art instruction, incorporating digital art tools and multimedia resources.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and other relevant information.
