About The Position

DMPS is seeking a Math teacher for the 26-27 school year. Teachers with a Math or STEM endorsement, or those with a valid teaching license willing to obtain a conditional endorsement, are encouraged to apply. The salary information on this posting comes from the 25-26 salary schedule, as the 26-27 schedule is not yet finalized. This position is for a General Education Teacher K-12, responsible for planning and delivering a high-quality educational program to meet children’s academic and social-emotional needs.

Requirements

Valid Iowa teaching license (appropriate endorsement code for teaching assignment).
Knowledge of subject, curriculum, effective teaching methods.
Demonstrated effectiveness in oral and written communications.
Math or STEM endorsement, or a valid teaching license willing to obtain a conditional endorsement.

Nice To Haves

Previous classroom teaching experience.
Experience in an urban school district.

Responsibilities

Deliver daily lessons, aligned to state and district standards that meet students’ individual needs and ensure growth.
Create a culturally inclusive classroom that meets the academic and social emotional needs of students.
Participate in building and district professional learning communities to plan for instruction, analyze data, and create assessments.
Monitor student learning on a daily basis.
Use multiple data points to guide and individualize instruction.
Communicate with families on a regular basis.
Participate in professional development.
Demonstrate consistent progress on meeting the eight Iowa Teaching Standards
Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
Maintain confidentiality.
Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
Assist with other duties as may be assigned.
