We are accepting applications for potential Middle/High School Visual Arts Teacher openings for the 2025-2026 school year. New employees are expected to attend New Teacher Orientation, which is tentatively scheduled for on August 14th & 15th, and the week of staff professional development beginning August 18th. The first day of school for students is August 25, 2025 An SLCS teacher is responsible for planning, instruction, activities and assessments based on the SLCS curriculum. Teachers are tasked with creating an integrated instructional program that supports an inclusion-based learning approach fostering a safe environment that respects academic and cultural diversity. Additionally, teachers are expected to work together with other teaching and support professionals in a collaborative manner to provide teaching strategies and methods that address a wide range of learning styles, individual needs, interests, abilities, and maturity levels of students. Among other things, the Teacher is responsible for: Designing developing, and delivering curriculum and instructional programs in alignment with the mission and vision of the school. Establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicating those objectives to students. Creating and maintaining engaging classroom environments that promote inquiry-based learning and discussions. Establishing and maintaining classroom management procedures to clearly communicate expectations to ensure an effective learning environment. Using multiple forms of authentic assessment to interpret, assess, evaluate, and report student learning outcomes. Maintaining up to date grade books and providing progress reports as required that include comments addressing students' strengths and areas of growth. Maintaining accurate and complete student records as required by law, district policies, and administrative regulations. Participating in back to school night, parent-teacher conferences, and other school events. Planning and coordinating unit exhibitions.
