About The Position

The Mid-Major Officer reports to the Senior Director of Advancement and is responsible for developing and implementing moves management strategies for donors giving $500-$9,900. Pioneers USA is a Christian nonprofit that specializes in mobilizing people to go to unreached people groups around the world. Using the principles of moves management, the Mid-Level Gifts Officer will manage a portfolio (caseload) of mid-level donors ($500-$9,900) and develop relationships through appreciation, appropriate recognition, communication, and prayer on their behalf.  A key component of donor communication is casting the vision of PI-USA with new, active, and lapsed donors so they will embrace and support the mission of Pioneers.

Requirements

  • Committed to global missions and overall vision of Pioneers
  • Must practice and support the relevant elements of the US Mobilization Base Manual
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills including communicating clearly, effectively, tactfully, and patiently to a diverse population
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and positive demeanor with the ability to build rapport and garner trust with others
  • Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work in high-pressure situations
  • Proficient in the use of a PC in a Windows environment; in the use of the Internet; and in the use of MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel, PowerPoint; and in the use of Relationship Management systems
  • Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills with the ability to develop and deliver presentations to a variety of audiences

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with mid-level donors to prepare for and share year-end and fiscal year-end match opportunities and then announce results
  • Prepare individual donor giving goals per appeal for mailings
  • Phone or email donors to invite participation in match opportunities
  • Follow up with contacts after match campaign to report results and thank donors for participation
  • Send thank-you notes, cards, or emails to donors for match and ongoing participation
  • Monitor giving of mid-level donors
  • Prepare and review donor database reports to monitor regular giving by mid-level donors
  • Acknowledge gifts with thank you communication (phone, email, note card)
  • Perform follow up action of lapsed giving
  • Create new donor recognition and follow up, and monitor weekly to identify through donor database
  • Send weekly messages that include thanks, the mission of Pioneers, and links to personal assistance and resources.
  • Maintain relationships with donors throughout the year to nurture giving, share ministry updates and reports/stories from the field, and prayer outreach
  • Send Easter and Christmas card greetings in collaboration with major donor project
  • Connect donors to new resources such as website or blog/Instagram series
  • Follow up on donors’ prayer requests with encouragement messages
  • Share items such as Annual Report, Statement of Giving, mailing updates, and special events related to Pioneers
  • Work with the Senior Director of Advancement on additional projects designed as outreach to Mid-Level Donors
  • Network with the Advancement Team in Moves Management, identifying Mid-Level donors to be moved into the Major Donor category based on giving increases, as well as donors moving into the Mid-Level caseload
  • Respond to donor-initiated contacts, ranging from account questions and online giving issues to prayer requests, praise report updates, and requests for ministry updates
  • Serve as advocate for Pioneers, providing information to and about Pioneers as necessary or requested by donor
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to prospective donors
  • Collaboratively plan and implement new donor cultivation and sustainability initiatives
  • Administer day-to-day operations of the function, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness while optimizing the use of available resources
  • Implementation of database moves management in fundraising
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams—including Finance, Donor Services, and Marketing—to ensure accurate gift documentation, proper stewardship, and donor intent alignment
  • Engage with current volunteers and staff to develop donor relationships reflective of the needs of the organization
  • Work closely with other departments to leverage events and activities to enhance account engagement and stewardship
  • Facilitates face-to-face visits for cultivation, solicitations, and stewardship efforts
  • Data Integrity Reporting
  • Uses existing donor databases and communication systems and processes to track donor activity
  • Captures and records every donor activity in the donor database
  • Supports administrative, event, and fundraising efforts for the campaigns
  • Represents Pioneers at fundraising events, meetings, and activities as needed
  • Assists the Senior Director of Advancement with various meetings and activities, including preparation, meeting arrangements, correspondence, and presentations
  • Assists in the creation and editing of correspondence, briefings, proposals, and reports
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned
