We are ready to hire an experienced Java User Interface Software Engineer to develop software for a next generation sonar array for future United States Navy submarines. Our close-knit team is passionate about delivering the best product to the Navy to help protect our country. Our team works closely with the Submarine community to develop solutions that allow the Navy to carry out high-stakes national security missions. As an experienced Software Engineer, you’ll perform software requirements analysis, participate in research and design, and develop and test user interface software and tools. From inventing new products or enhancing existing applications, your talent will be front and center.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field.
  • Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering concepts, principles, and theories.
  • Solid knowledge of the software development process.
  • Strong experience in Java UI development (e.g., Swing, JavaFX).
  • Redhat/Linux experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of technology trends and the ability to advocate for new ideas, products, and process improvements.
  • Ability to effectively handle complex assignments and work through challenging problems with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Creative thinking with the ability to effectively multi-task.

Nice To Haves

  • Agile experience preferred.
  • Experience developing with AI-assisted or AI-generated code.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Java-based user interfaces within a Linux environment to meet the system requirements for the Navy.
  • Write code, test, integrate and document software solutions.
  • Analyze system, functional, and performance requirements and how they impact new or existing UI code.
  • Conduct software peer reviews for others on your team.
  • Perform software unit testing and support integration and test activities.
  • Build user interface software to demonstrate next-generation sonar array functionality.
