About The Position

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented, and motivated Mid-Level Transportation Engineer for immediate employment for the Des Moines, Iowa office. The position involves performing specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer, gathering and correlating basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures, and working on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests. The engineer will propose approaches to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments, identify discrepancies in results, and provide guidance to entry-level engineers. The role requires performing work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule with little supervision and independently completing all tasks necessary to design primary engineering works. Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.

Requirements

  • BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Iowa or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire if current PE is out of state.

Nice To Haves

  • BS in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation ORD.
  • 8+ years of related experience.
  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team.
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
  • Computer skills using Microsoft office, HCS, Synchro, HISSM, AutoCAD and MicroStation preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with InRoads a plus.
  • Prior experience working on Roadway and Municipal projects preferred.
  • Prior experience working with the Iowa Department of Transportation is a plus.
