Within our Buildings Practice , LJBs structural engineers are widely recognized for their cost-efficient, high-performance designs , particularly in tilt-up construction and steel detailing . Our team is the trusted structural partner for architects, general contractors, and building owners across North America. We are currently seeking a Structural Engineer to support our Buildings Practice. While we prefer candidates who are located near one of our offices, we are open to fully remote applicants based anywhere in the United States . The ideal candidate will play a key role in the analysis, design, and development of structural systems tailored to meet the unique needs of LJBs clients. Annual Compensation: $76,000-110,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Civil or Architectural engineering with Structural emphasis required.
  • Minimum 5 years of structural engineering experience with a focus on reinforced concrete and/or steel design.
  • Proficient in producing construction documents, reports, and related technical documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE).

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree.
  • Strong background in vertical construction projects including commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings; tilt-up experience.
  • Prior experience with cast-in-place concrete and mid-rise steel structures.
  • Proficiency with RAM Structural Systems, Enercalc, and Revit.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural calculations and design for building components including superstructures, foundations, and floor systems.
  • Develop and assist in the preparation of construction documents for vertical structures.
  • Collaborate with design teams to ensure accuracy and coordination across drawings and documentation.
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate with clients under the guidance of a supervisor.
  • Maintain and expand technical knowledge through continuing education, industry seminars, and in-house training programs.
  • Evaluate design processes and propose improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Maintain composure and problem-solving capability in high-pressure situations.
  • Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Conduct occasional site visits to monitor construction progress and document observations.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols during site visits.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Open to career growth opportunities, including potential transition into a Project Manager role.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
