Tetra Tech is seeking a Mid-Level Stormwater Project Engineer to join our Water team in Houston, TX. This mid-level role offers the opportunity to lead technical tasks, support project delivery, and grow into greater responsibility on complex water infrastructure projects. Requirements

  • B.S. in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline (M.S. a plus).
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in water resources, stormwater, or wastewater projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM) and design platforms (AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS).
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and client-facing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while supporting team-oriented project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead portions of projects involving stormwater management, watershed modeling, hydrologic/hydraulic (H&H) studies, and water infrastructure design.
  • Develop and review hydrologic and hydraulic models (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, etc.).
  • Take responsibility for portions of design packages including stormwater systems, culverts, detention basins, green infrastructure, and flood mitigation solutions.
  • Conduct site investigations, field data collection, and condition assessments with limited oversight.
  • Prepare technical reports, permitting documents, and construction drawings with a focus on quality and compliance.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with senior staff across disciplines (civil, environmental, geotechnical, and planning).
