Greystones Group is hiring a Mid-Level Software Engineer to support Navy AI development and modernization efforts. In this role, you will contribute to the development, enhancement, and sustainment of web-based enterprise-grade applications in a secure Agile environment. The ideal candidate has experience across both front-end and back-end development and can collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and user-focused solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
3-6 years of relevant professional experience
2+ years of software engineering experience in a DoD, Navy, or broader government environment
Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, C#, or Python
Experience with front-end technologies such as TypeScript, React, Angular, or Vue
Experience with full-stack system design and development
Experience building responsive, accessible user interfaces and familiarity with common React UI libraries
Experience with back-end technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, or Node.js
Strong SQL skills, including PostgreSQL schema design, indexing, and query tuning
Strong communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional technical teams
Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or SAFe and version-controlled development practices
Strong understanding of object-oriented design, microservices, APIs, and containerized applications
Experience with DevSecOps practices and tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
Experience creating CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, or similar tools
Active Secret Clearance

Nice To Haves

Experience with Generative AI, machine learning, data science, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agentic AI system design and engineering
Experience supporting accreditation packages and operating within highly regulated government environments
Experience working as a forward deployed engineer or in a forward deployed engineering environment
Experience with graph, vector database, ETL, and analytical data platforms such as Neo4j, pgvector, and Grafana

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable full-stack web applications supporting Navy platforms, systems, and weapon systems
Apply UI/UX design principles, systems engineering, and testing practices to deliver secure, user-friendly solutions
Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and back-end data storage solutions
Build responsive and accessible front-end user interfaces using modern frameworks
Participate in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and team reviews
Troubleshoot application issues and contribute to bug fixes, optimization, and performance improvements
Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements, including secure coding practices and RMF-related controls
Document code, system designs, and technical processes to support maintainability and accreditation efforts
Participate in design reviews, code walkthroughs, and formal configuration management activities
