About The Position

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, at Spirit’s Defense Business Unit (“Spirit Defense”). Spirit Defense is an independent supplier to the defense and space marketplace. Through innovative engineering and rapid prototyping excellence, Spirit Defense provides the capabilities, technologies and support customers need to succeed in their missions. Responsibilities Position Responsibilities: Seal, fillet and fay, cap seal, brush coat, etc. for major assemblies, sub-assemblies, precision bench and integral fuel cell. Apply scotchcast, leveling compound, aerodynamic seal and pressure test, working from drawings, documents, process specifications, quality control requirements and established processes and procedures. The Company will provide appropriate assistance in job training to enable employees to perform all necessary job functions including work with blueprints, changes, specifications, work orders, etc. sealing to quality requirements. Complete required data gathering transactions to facilitate all sealer progression. Perform any and all required pickup, rework, fabrication, change incorporation, functional testing or check during or after final seal and/or seal progression. Use measuring instruments as required to accomplish work assignments. Report and/or investigate job handicaps such as: errors, assembly procedures, tools, sequences, etc. Support the continuous flow of product within the manufacturing process by training, coaching and assisting employees of all classification levels. Document any discrepancies according to specification, process, and procedure. Temporarily attach parts and or assemblies, install collars and other hardware not related to drilling or countersinking. Level B: will integral Fuel Cell Sealing - Apply sealingcompounds to seal fuel cell and related wing section components. Additionally, the employee must have the skill and knowledge to perform one or more of the skills listed below, along with any lower level sealant level of major assembly or large structure sealing or aerodynamic sealing.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be eligible to apply for, obtain, and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance, in addition to customer program clearance.
  • Must be willing an able to work 1st and 2nd shifts
  • Willing and able to work any shift, including alternative work weeks and some weekends
  • Ability to work on concrete floors, uneven surfaces, and in confined spaces, as well as walk on open floor beams, climb on stairs/scaffolding, crawl/kneel in workstation, and lift/move parts and/or tools
  • Pass the WorkKeys Assessment (workkeys.com) or provide verification that they have passed the WorkKeys Assessment. Delay in completing your WorkKeys Assessment will result in a delay in your start date. You may complete your assessment in advance of an interview
  • Use of seal guns, surface cleaning, and adhesive application.
  • Precise caulking, surface preparation, and reading technical plans.
  • Following strict safety procedures and working with hazardous chemicals.
  • Surface Preparation: Experience cleaning, sanding, and preparing surfaces for coating or adhesion.
  • Application Precision: Proficiency in using applicators, caulking guns, and smoothing tools (fairing tools) to apply sealant smoothly.
  • Experience with Coatings: Previous experience with paints, sealants, adhesives, or primers in industrial or trade settings.
  • Fastener Sealing: Skill in applying sealant to fasteners and bolts.
  • Interpreting Technical Data: Ability to read and follow precise work instructions, blueprints, or technical drawings.
  • Meticulous Attention to Detail
  • Quality Inspection: A focus on identifying gaps, defects, or potential leak paths.
  • FOD Awareness: Ability to follow Foreign Object Debris (FOD) protocols, ensuring no debris is left inside the aircraft structure.
  • Consistency: Applying sealant in a consistent, uniform manner.
  • Physical Stamina and Dexterity
  • Confined Space Work: Ability to work in tight, cramped areas (like inside fuel tanks).
  • Manual Dexterity: Strong hand-eye coordination for detailed work.
  • Physical Demands: Comfort working at heights with fall protection, as well as repetitive tasks like bending, twisting, and reaching
