The Role: The Field/Laboratory Technician will provide construction quality assurance/quality control (CQA/CQ) for earthworks testing as well as geosynthetics installation.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of experience in field construction materials testing CQA/QC, specifically soils testing, liner CQA, and laboratory testing.
  • Basic to intermediate math and writing skills.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work weekends, as required.
  • Ability to travel and work out of town for extended periods, as required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally move more than 100 pounds, with assistance
  • Ability to spend a majority of time walking and doing inspections for multiple days.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all company and client specific safety requirements.
  • Perform field CQA/QC observation and testing.
  • Perform geotechnical laboratory testing, including:
  • Soil/Aggregate sampling and processing
  • Grain size, Atterberg Limits, specific gravity
  • Compaction tests - Proctors
  • Hydrometer analysis
  • Hydraulic conductivity (permeability)
  • Perform concrete testing.
  • Onsite interaction with clients, contractors and engineers.
  • Oversee CQA/QC field and laboratory team members.
  • Provide training to CQA/QC and laboratory team members.
  • Schedule and coordinate CQA/QC activity for compliance to project technical specifications
  • Issue and track issuance of surveillance and non-conformity reports
