The Role: The Field/Laboratory Technician will provide construction quality assurance/quality control (CQA/CQ) for earthworks testing as well as geosynthetics installation.
Requirements
- 10-15 years of experience in field construction materials testing CQA/QC, specifically soils testing, liner CQA, and laboratory testing.
- Basic to intermediate math and writing skills.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Excel and Word.
- Ability to work weekends, as required.
- Ability to travel and work out of town for extended periods, as required.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally move more than 100 pounds, with assistance
- Ability to spend a majority of time walking and doing inspections for multiple days.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all company and client specific safety requirements.
- Perform field CQA/QC observation and testing.
- Perform geotechnical laboratory testing, including:
- Soil/Aggregate sampling and processing
- Grain size, Atterberg Limits, specific gravity
- Compaction tests - Proctors
- Hydrometer analysis
- Hydraulic conductivity (permeability)
- Perform concrete testing.
- Onsite interaction with clients, contractors and engineers.
- Oversee CQA/QC field and laboratory team members.
- Provide training to CQA/QC and laboratory team members.
- Schedule and coordinate CQA/QC activity for compliance to project technical specifications
- Issue and track issuance of surveillance and non-conformity reports
