About The Position

Merrick & Company's growing Project Controls team is looking for a Project Controls Engineer II, proficient in both schedule and cost, to support the Energy Manufacturing and Bioprocessing (EMB) Business Unit. The position can be executed from our Baltimore, MD, Richmond, VA, Newport News, VA, Tulsa, OK, Huntsville, AL or Greenwood Village (Denver Metro), CO offices. On a case-by-case basis, a hybrid or fully remote schedule may be considered. Annual pay range for this position is $83,600.00 - $113,200.00. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in the field of Project Controls (Planning & Scheduling/Cost Engineering/Estimating).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of cost and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) or Earned Value Management (EVM) requirements.
  • Experience in the Engineering/Procurement/Construction Management field.
  • Computer proficiency in basic project control software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
  • Strong Primavera and MS Project skill sets are required.
  • Strong problem solving, analysis and interpersonal skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Any of the following certifications awarded by the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International (AACEi) are helpful: Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP), Earned Value Professional (EVP), Certified Cost Professional (CCP).
  • Experience with earned value on a government contract.
  • Experience with Monte Carlo Analysis.
  • Familiarity with Capital Cost Estimating is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities will include developing, managing, and updating project schedules.
  • Developing and maintaining hours, cost and revenue forecasts for multiple projects.
  • Assist with weekly reports to senior Business Unit management.
  • Provide Project Controls services on assigned Project Teams, monitoring of planning, scheduling, cost engineering and trend engineering.
  • Provide service to a diverse set of project managers and ability to communicate calmly and effectively.
  • preparing schedules and performance monitoring status and management reports which identify variances in work execution strategy,
  • provide timely feedback and recommend solutions to management to improve or mitigate problems affecting schedule, cost, or estimating issues throughout the life cycle of a project, program or other work activity.
  • Use system data to prepare monthly hours, cost and revenue forecasts, including earned value.
  • Provide scheduling support as requested from Project Managers (Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project).
  • Utilize the cost data to allow for the tracking and control of budgets, commitments, accruals, expenditures and contingency for the duration of the project.
  • Identify project cost exposures and overrun risks in a timely manner to allow informed mitigation decisions and actions.
  • Assist project accounting with invoice support, accuracy, timely submittals and payments.
  • Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality.
