About The Position

The Chicago office of Baker McKenzie is seeking a Mid-Level Litigation Associate to join its Litigation & Government Enforcement Practice Group. This role is designed for an attorney with two to five years of experience, focusing on supporting the firm's commercial litigation and government enforcement practices. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of complex business disputes, class action defense, and mass torts. Additionally, experience in advising companies on compliance matters, particularly in areas such as anticorruption and trade-related issues, is highly valued. The position also requires familiarity with various regulatory and enforcement matters, which are critical to the firm's operations. Candidates should have experience conducting cross-border investigations related to compliance matters. This includes managing email and document reviews, preparing for and conducting interviews, and synthesizing findings and legal conclusions for presentation to clients and regulators. The ideal candidate will also have deposition and courtroom experience, which is essential for the role. Strong academic credentials are a must, along with excellent communication, analytical, and writing skills. Experience in case management, drafting pleadings and discovery, arguing motions, and taking and defending depositions is also required. Prior client-facing experience is preferred, as the role involves interfacing with and managing client relationships alongside partners. Experience in a large law firm litigation practice is strongly preferred, and a former clerkship with a federal district judge or circuit court is considered favorable. Candidates must be admitted to and a member in good standing of the Illinois bar to apply. This position is bonus-eligible and includes comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits based on the number of hours worked. The expected US base compensation for this position ranges from $260,000 to $365,000 annually, depending on the work location and other factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
