About The Position

Battelle's Cyber Business Line is seeking a Senior Integrated Circuit Designer to lead the IC Design team and to support programs requiring ASIC or MMIC solutions. Our group works to support applied research and development for trust, assurance, security, reliability, and performance of microelectronics for the Department of Defense. The position is in Columbus, OH.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. plus (2) years, or M.S. plus (5) years, or B.S. plus (10) years of IC design experience.
  • Proven track record of circuit design experience in one or more of the following domains: Digital, Analog, Power, RF, Mixed-Signal integrated circuit design.
  • Established understanding of ASIC Design Flow and EDA Tools (Cadence, Synopsis, or Siemens EDA flows).
  • Knowledge and experience in characterizing fabricated designs hands on in the lab.
  • Ability to support a product through the entire product development and release cycle.
  • Experience in writing technical reports and/or proposals.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to document/support technical analysis and assessments with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a larger team.
  • Up to 25% travel required.
  • Must be US Citizen.
  • Existing DOD Secret with ability to obtain and maintain DOD Top Secret/SCI.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EM modelling (ADS, HFSS, Sonnet, AWR, etc.).
  • Research experience in advanced technology within IC domains of digital, analog, power, RF, and/or Mixed-signal design.
  • Experience with III-V materials (e.g., GaN, GaAs, etc.) and MMIC design.
  • Design experience with TSMC, Global Foundries, and/or Intel process nodes.
  • Team leadership experience.
  • Active DOD Secret, Top Secret, or SCI Security Clearance.
  • Experience in making timely technical decisions while weighing project risks and schedule considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the ASIC design team in digital, analog, power, radio frequency, and/or mixed-signal circuit design from concept through to post-production test.
  • Provide high-level vision for integrated circuit projects including team formation and tasking, specification development, system design, circuit design, simulation, layout, post-layout simulation, sign-off, and fabricated circuit test.
  • Develop new IP cores from specifications that can be integrated into new designs.
  • Manage tapeout schedules, lead research teams in planning, designing, and delivering specialty solutions for customer needs.
  • Develop funding pathways for future design efforts through identification and pursuit of opportunities.
  • Grow the ASIC/MMIC design team and capability offerings.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior level designers.
