About The Position

Boeing Global Services (BGS) is seeking Mid-Level Ground Based Mid-Course Defense (GMD) Ground Based Interceptor (GBI) Sustainment & Repair/Modification Maintenance Technician. These positions support the GMD program. The GMD system is operationally capable to defend the homeland against long-range ballistic missile attacks. This position is located at Fort Greely, AK (~100 miles southeast of Fairbanks) and is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience with experience assembling, repairing, and testing mechanical and electrical components and systems.
  • Required to support Boeing Team at other locations and be available for off-site training.
  • Must be able to travel domestically.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend vertical work ladders continually throughout the work day, work in confined spaces, and lift loads approximately 35 pounds continually throughout the workday.
  • Ability to pass a complete fall protection training and work with heights of seventy feet or more and not exceed weight restrictions.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working on the Ground Based Mid-Course Defense (GMD) system.
  • Experience working with spacecraft, aircraft, rocket ordnance/rocket motors, and missile components.
  • Experience working AHU/HVAC systems.
  • Ability to operate a Forklift, truck mounted crane, and other associated equipment.
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (A or B).
  • Active U.S. Security Clearance at time of application (within 24 months is considered active).

Responsibilities

  • Works on small team for assembly, disassembly and troubleshooting of numerous assemblies by removing and replacing aerospace vehicle components to include a variety of electrical and mechanical components using general maintenance practices and product specifications to correct failures.
  • Resolves and corrects complex problems during operations, maintenance and overhaul of (GMD) Ground-based Defense system/sub-system components.
  • Works on small team for assembly, disassembly or overhaul functions to ensure adequacy, accuracy and thoroughness of product assembly, disassembly and overhauls.
  • Performs routine and complex functional/diagnostic tests and troubleshoots electrical/mechanical systems, using monitoring instruments and bench/automated test equipment, to determine root cause of initial or isolated failures.
  • Works on and around ordnance, after company provided training and certification has been completed.
  • Documents repairs, test results, applicable modifications and inspection results, using specific, detailed instructions and established processes and procedures, to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance.
  • Visually inspects component before installation or usage to verify cleanliness and serviceability of components.
  • Works under direct supervision.
  • Assists engineering and field support representatives to rectify discrepancies found by technicians.
  • Works as a team member on various 35 Ton Boom truck lift operations.
