The Mid-level Database Administrator is responsible for the stability, security, monitoring and performance of the database platform. Serves as lead and technical point of contact for customers and associated members of the Engineering and Development team.

  • Install, configure, and upgrade database software (SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.)
  • Conduct hands on engineering activities across Microsoft database technologies and multiple system administration technologies.
  • Manage database backup jobs, capacity, planning, and storage growth.
  • Implement data archiving, retention and purging policies.
  • Provide and/or support the development of technical documentation related to any support, training and transitioning.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning/testing.
  • Tune queries, indexes and stored procedures for better performance.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge and consultative skills, while working effectively with customers and Engineering/Development team members.
  • Support engineering and development team in patches, updates & troubleshooting as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Development or 60 months (about 5 years) hands-on experience.
  • 5+ years of work experience in Database Development, Administration & Support in MS SQL Server environment.
  • Certifications: Experience with SQL and Virtual DB environments.
  • Experience in installing & configuring database software (SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of SQL Server setup, configuration, patching and maintenance.
  • Skilled in installing & configuring SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and developing custom reports.
  • Experienced designing & managing database schemas, implementing role-based access controls.
  • Comprehensive experience in database administration, development & monitoring backup jobs.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based database deployment and configuration, specifically Azure SQL Database.
  • Experience in cloud and on-premises performance tuning, cost optimization, automation, and implementing security best practices.
  • Experience in cloud and on-premises SQL Monitoring, database backups health, query tuning & indexing strategies for better performance.
  • Experience configuring high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including Geo-replication and failover clustering.
  • Skilled in migrating databases from on-premises SQL server to Azure SQL or Managed Instances.
  • Knowledgeable in database backup and recovery using SSMS or third-party tools (e.g., DRUVA).
  • Proficient in writing complex SQL queries, including stored procedures, functions, views, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot database issues using built-in and third-party diagnostic tools.
  • Experience developing and deploying packages with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Familiar with tape-based backup solutions and strategies.
  • Experience configuring and managing recovery strategies (full, differential, incremental, log backups).
  • Skilled in conducting root cause analysis and resolving database related issues.
  • Understanding of technology governance - security & access policies, audits & compliance.
  • Knowledgeable in security principles and best practices within database environments.
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to support server maintenance and upgrades.
  • Able to assist with diagnosing and resolving network-related issues in collaboration with Engineering team.
  • Data Modelling & Data Standards.
  • Familiarity with Windows Clustering and HA concepts.
  • Datawarehouse design and modelling.
  • Experience with LightSpeed and Spotlight is a plus.
  • Experience with Redgate tools (SQL Structure & Data Compare).
  • Experience Postgres/MongoDB is a plus.
