GFT is seeking a Mid-Level Bridge Engineer to join our Northeast Transportation Team. This hybrid position will be based out of GFT’s New Jersey offices (Marlton or East Brunswick) or New York City office. This is an exciting time to join our team! What you’ll be challenged to do: As a Mid-Level Bridge Engineer, you’ll take on a lead technical role in the planning, design, and delivery of structural projects that strengthen regional mobility. From multi-span highway overpasses and complex river crossings to pedestrian bridges and culvert upgrades, you’ll lead elements of analysis, design, and plan development while ensuring technical quality and design consistency across multidisciplinary teams. You’ll contribute to design-build and accelerated construction initiatives, coordinate with roadway, geotechnical, and traffic disciplines, and help shape solutions that advance multimodal connectivity and community value. You’ll also have opportunities to serve as a task lead, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate directly with project managers and public agency clients. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• 8-10 years of progressive experience in designing roadway infrastructure.
• Understanding of standard engineering practices, techniques, and applicable codes.
• Experience in new bridge design, bridge rehabilitation, load ratings, and/or inspection of bridges.
• Proficiency with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
• Knowledge of plan development with CADD (MicroStation and/or AutoCAD).
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word for engineering and business applications.
• Ability to work in a team environment, demonstrate initiative, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience with New Jersey Department of Transportation and/or New Jersey Turnpike Authority projects preferred including well versed in client design policies, standards and specifications.
• Experience with Bentley OpenBridge Designer (LEAPSteel), CSiBridge, and AASHTOWare BrR desirable.
• Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to actively engage in multiple perspectives when solving problems, is willing to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural analyses, design, and quality reviews of bridge geometry and components.
• Develop structure plans for bridges and other transportation structures such as culverts, retaining walls, utility vaults, noise abatement walls, pedestrian bridges, and sign structures.
• Prepare and review construction contract documents, including specifications, cost estimates, and shop drawings.
• Serve as a technical mentor to junior and supporting staff, and contribute to internal knowledge sharing and best practices.
