About The Position

The Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) Engineer provides enterprise-level configuration, deployment, and lifecycle management of Windows operating systems, applications, and security patches across the environment. This role ensures reliable, compliant, and secure endpoint operations through MECM/SCCM, Intune (as applicable), and associated Microsoft management technologies. The engineer will also administer and optimize the Microsoft SQL Server back-end databases that support MECM infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity in compliance with policies. Requirements

  • 3 years of experience administering Microsoft MECM/SCCM environments in a medium to large enterprise setting.
  • Certified as a Microsoft Technology Specialist
  • Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including backup/restore, indexing, tuning, and permissions.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server administration (2016/2019/2022).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of WSUS, SSRS, Active Directory, Group Policy, and PowerShell scripting.
  • Proven experience in OS imaging, task sequencing, application packaging, and patch deployment.
  • Experience managing large-scale MECM deployments in secure federal environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance .
  • Familiarity with NIST, DHS, or federal IT security standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional experience in managing Apply systems in MECM if preferred but not .
  • Experience supporting MECM in multi-site or geographically distributed environments such as training centers.
  • Experience with Windows Autopilot, Intune, or co-management scenarios.
  • Microsoft certifications such as: Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate Azure Administrator Associate SQL Server Database Administrator certifications
  • Experience with Tenable Nessus, ACAS, or similar vulnerability management tools.
  • Knowledge of DISA STIGs and federal compliance frameworks (FISMA, CDM, etc.).
  • Experience developing advanced PowerShell automation for MECM and SQL operations.
  • Experience working within ITIL-based change management and service management environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, configure, and maintain MECM/SCCM infrastructure including site servers, distribution points, management points, and reporting services.
  • Build and deploy Windows OS images using OSD, task sequences, driver packages, and automation.
  • Manage application packaging, deployment, updates, and versioning via MECM.
  • Administer software update management using WSUS and MECM, ensuring successful patch deployment across all endpoints.
  • Create, monitor , and maintain MECM collections, baselines, and compliance policies.
  • Configure, secure, and maintain SQL Server instances hosting MECM site databases.
  • Perform SQL Server backup, restore, optimization, index management, and performance tuning operations.
  • Monitor SQL Server health, logs, and job execution to maintain peak MECM performance.
  • Support SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and create/maintain MECM reports for operational visibility.
  • Implement and enforce security baselines, STIG guidance, GPO integrations, and endpoint security requirements.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot MECM deployments, replication, distribution point issues, and client health.
  • Ensure endpoint compliance with federal cybersecurity policy, to include patch levels, configuration drift, and software compliance.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis for complex MECM client issues, deployment failures, and SQL-associated faults.
  • Serve as technical SME for MECM operations during audits, reviews, and system assessments.
  • Provide Tier III engineering support and mentor junior administrators as needed.
  • Maintain architecture diagrams, SOPs, configuration guides, and system documentation.
  • Support change management processes, security reviews, and configuration control board activities.
  • Produce reports and technical summaries for leadership and program stakeholders.
