About The Position

The Microcomputer Systems Analyst, Senior works within the technical support area of the Department of Information Technology (IT). This dynamic team performs technical and professional work for staff and public-access computers at city departments providing level 2 and 3 computer software and hardware support, support for specialized technical hardware and software systems, and applying broad knowledge of technology infrastructure and processes to trouble-shooting technology problems. On-call weekend and after-hours support is required on a rotating basis. This position is an Essential position, which requires attendance during emergencies, delayed city openings and special weather events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a general professional or technical field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience installing Windows and iOS software, maintaining and repairing computer hardware, and troubleshooting software and hardware.
  • Advanced knowledge of Intel-based or AMD-based computer architecture.
  • Experience with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office suite, and Apple iOS operating systems.
  • Knowledge of Help Desk or field service technician tasks and responsibilities.
  • Experience with audio/visual systems and equipment.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity tools and requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of Windows-based local area networks, Ethernet, network cabling, and telecommunications components.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide standard and escalated computer hardware and software support to staff and public customers.
  • Review and install Microsoft and other desktop software updates.
  • Provide installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting support to advanced technology systems including digital signage and audio/visual equipment.
  • Act as system administrator for various business applications as requested.
  • Perform analytical and problem-solving activities to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Provide excellent customer service and IT support to all agencies.
  • Install and update software on computers using desktop management tools.
  • Assist with advanced technical support for projects involving computer hardware and software.
  • Create, document, and modify installation and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Assist with hardware and software inventory and license management.
  • Perform system administration for desktop management and other applications as requested.
