As a Microbiology Technician at Merieux Nutri Sciences, you will play a crucial role in ensuring food safety and public health. Your primary responsibilities will include reading plates and tubes to determine the number of organisms in samples, recording findings for verification, and writing identification onto plates for tracking purposes. You will be involved in the preparation of samples for analysis, which includes pipetting sample solutions into tubes or plates, pouring agar into plates or tubes, and preparing media and broth for pathogen testing. Additionally, you will collect plates and place them in incubators, perform various analysis tests such as food poisoning and pH tests, and ensure that all materials are sterilized and ready for use in the laboratory. Your day-to-day tasks will also involve maintaining knowledge of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to complete job responsibilities effectively. You will support corporate quality and continuous improvement processes, perform necessary housekeeping duties to keep work areas clean and sanitized, and adhere to all safety policies. The role requires participation in a cleaning schedule and maintaining retain samples as required. You will also be responsible for supporting laboratory management in the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the management system, as well as performing other related tasks as needed. This position offers regular overtime hours, with a start time of 10:30 AM from Tuesday to Saturday, and a pay rate of $19.50 per hour.
