Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Life Sciences, or related field
Minimum 3 years of microbiology lab experience, including EM in a GMP setting
At least 3 years of leadership experience in technical or lab environments
Strong understanding of microbiological testing, EM protocols, and compliance standards
Proven ability to coach and develop staff while managing operations
Authorized to work in the U.S. without restriction or sponsorship
Willingness to relocate to Rensselaer - relocation support is available

Responsibilities

Oversee environmental monitoring (EM) activities, including sampling of cleanrooms, compressed gases, and water systems
Conduct microbial identification and acceptance testing of microbiological culture media
Maintain microbiology productivity databases and generate trend reports
Lead investigations into microbiological deviations and prepare detailed reports
Ensure calibration and maintenance of lab equipment and compliance with GMP standards
Supervise and mentor microbiology analysts and group leaders
Manage onboarding, training, and scheduling for second-shift operations
Apply Lean principles to optimize workflows and drive continuous improvement
