About The Position

Eurofins BioPharma Product Testing is seeking a Microbiology Lab Technician to support routine microbiological testing at our San Diego site. This position is a professional laboratory role suited for early-career microbiology professionals with a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or a related life science who are looking to develop their skills in a regulated laboratory environment. This role supports pharmaceutical and medical device microbiology testing performed under GMP and ISO-classified cleanroom conditions. The successful candidate will perform routine testing, documentation, and laboratory support activities in accordance with established procedures, while building technical proficiency and regulatory knowledge through hands-on experience and structured training. The ideal candidate will have relevant laboratory experience, typically gained through academic coursework, internships, or early-career industry roles, and a strong foundation in microbiological techniques. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a closely related life science
  • Relevant laboratory experience gained through academic, internship, or early career industry roles-career industry roles
  • Working knowledge of basic microbiological techniques and aseptic practices
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures
  • Ability to work effectively in a regulated laboratory environment
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and electronic data systems)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a GMP, GLP, or ISO-regulated laboratory environment-regulated laboratory environment
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical or medical device microbiology
  • Exposure to USP or other compendial test methods
  • Experience with Environmental Monitoring or cleanroom operations
  • Experience using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine microbiological testing in accordance with approved SOPs, including but not limited to: o Microbial Limits testing (USP <61> / <62>) o Sterility testing (USP <71>) o Endotoxin testing (USP <85>)
  • Prepare, label, and verify microbiological culture media and reagents
  • Conduct basic microbiological techniques such as plating, colony enumeration, and Gram staining
  • Support Environmental Monitoring (EM) activities in ISO-classified cleanrooms, including surface, air, and personnel monitoring
  • Accurately document laboratory activities in compliance with GMP, GLP, and data integrity requirements
  • Enter test results into LIMS and support data review under supervision
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment (e.g., incubators, biosafety cabinets, autoclaves) following training and established procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready laboratory workspace
  • Follow laboratory safety, gowning, aseptic technique, and contamination control practices
  • Support investigations, deviations, and corrective actions as assigned
  • Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives
