About The Position

Tentamus Pharmaceutical Sciences LLC (TPS) , in St. Petersburg, Florida , is hiring a Microbiology Lab Manager to lead daily operations across our Microbiology testing areas. WHAT YOU'LL DO As the Microbiology Manager , you will work closely with the TPS leadership team under the supervision of the Site Director and be responsible for maintaining quality, efficiency, compliance, and strong laboratory operations across the Microbiology department. Your duties include but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will be authorized to work in the United States indefinitely and without restrictions or sponsorship
  • hold a Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Biology, or related field and/or with extensive experience in microbiological testing will be considered
  • be a proactive, organized, and collaborative scientific leader who meets the following qualifications:
  • Minimum 6 years of microbiology laboratory experience as an analyst in pharmaceutical industry and minimum 2 years of leadership experience in microbiology laboratory
  • Competency in industry-specific or industry-related laboratory techniques and procedures, with a good understanding of laboratory information systems and laboratory equipment
  • Must be able to work 5 days a week onsite with weekend flexibility (This is not a remote work position) and flexibility to cover shifts in any area of stewardship whenever necessary, and be the first line of defense .
  • Be able to lift at least 50lbs
  • Ability to c ommunicate professionally and effectively (both oral and written) with team members and leadership to resolve any issues, contribute to a positive and ethical work environment, follow established and proper procedure for conflict resolution, and handle fast-paced, high-pressured work demands with confidence and professionalism .

Responsibilities

  • Laboratory Operations & Workflow Management : Closely monitor retesting and timely reporting of results on a daily basis; review pending results and testing on a daily basis to ensure results are accurate and released on time; ensure team meets turnaround time; maintain active, visible presence and engagement in the laboratory, in order to stay well-versed and well-informed in all operations and/or issues under stewardship; maintain a state of organization, cleanliness, and audit readiness in the Micro Lab; demonstrate accountability and responsibility for all areas of stewardship by being an active team player and being adaptable and willing to cover any shift, whenever necessary.
  • Quality Systems, Compliance & Safety : Establish and follow a strong quality system in the Microbiology department, according to TPS quality requirements; ensure microbiology personnel adheres to all quality and operations SOP's and policies; ensure the laboratory operates safely according to established policies and procedures; participate in and lead operations, safety, quality audits, and accreditation preparation for the Microbiology Lab; harmonize managerial practices and routine operations with TPS vision, culture, values, and policies, as identified in the Team Handbook and by ARL leadership
  • Technical Expertise & Testing Oversight : Read and interpret microbiological results b y establish ed and USP methods, whenever necessary; pass all require d proficien cy tests ; mainta in knowledge, skills, capability, and availability to fill any role and responsibility within areas of supervision, whenever necessary
  • Process Improvement & Investigations : Review and improve Micro processes on a regular basis to reconcile efficiency with compliance needs; work closely and collaboratively with QA/QC team to investigate non-conformities for operations of the Micro Lab, and execute timely corrective actions to resolve all issues; perform and/or assign granular investigations as appropriate to assist with responding to client inquiries (i.e., OOS results, missing data, etc.); work in collaboration with TPS leadership to implement new SOP's and in resolving all technical matters in the laboratory; when necessary and appropriate, work closely with team lead to assist in writing, reviewing, and revising SOPs
  • Team Leadership, Training & Performance Management : Assign personnel to appropriate duties in order to optimize employee growth and retention, team productivity, client demand and satisfaction, and overall team efficiency; train and keep track of training for Micro Lab team; set KPI's for self and team, and monitor progress; perform weekly or bi-weekly 1-on-1 sessions and bi-annual performance reviews with team members to track wins, losses, progress, and interventions; perform and report TPS annual performance reviews in a timely manner, following established practices; allow Micro team members to take ownership of areas of stewardship by facilitating improvement projects and reports; conduct inclusive team meetings on a regular basis based on an established schedule, issues or changes to protocols, and discuss plans for growth in order to gather feedback, disseminate information, work with the team to resolve any; execute best practices and judgment in increasing team morale; cultivate an environment of exceptionalism and pride in the work we do at TPS by demonstrating the highest level of professionalism, work ethic, teamwork, fairness, timeliness, respect, leadership presence, accountability, responsiveness, and two-way communication
  • Inventory, Equipment & Resource Management : Oversee instrumentation maintenance; maintain accurate and current inventory list according to the needs and demands of testing services; ensure timely procurement of appropriate laboratory supplies, equipment, and instrumentation for executing testing within areas of stewardship
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication : Communicate with TPS leadership team on all issues and developments pertaining to leadership team laboratory practices and operations, and provide timely month-end reporting to; provide informed, accurate and timely stewardship report to TPS leadership team on a monthly basis; work in collaboration with the Business Development & Project Management teams regarding performance of TPS testing services, results, quotes for special projects, and other relevant issues; be a consultant to the Business Development & Project Management teams to resolve testing inquiries and issues .
  • Administrative & Compliance Responsibilities : Follow all administrative protocols for purchasing , human resource, and legal compliance; be in compliance with T NA human resource policies and procedures in executing management decisions and managerial practices; engage in professional development and complete required managerial training; complete HR policy trainings in a satisfactory manner, as assigned
