A member of the Quality Assurance department, a food service division at Lyons Magnus, an international food and beverage manufacturer headquartered in Fresno, California. The Microbiology Technician is an intern position aimed at learning how to support quality assurance, food safety, sanitation, and related activities in a manner that helps the strawberry production operations at the Fresno, CA plant.

Requirements

  • An interest in learning about microbiology in a food manufacturing capacity.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High School Graduate.
  • Basic laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine standard plating on raw materials and finished product.
  • Support investigations by conducting micro analysis on samples as needed by technical managers.
  • Conduct assigned handling and plating of environmental samples.
  • Prepare and maintain all micro medias required for all routine Lyons plate count requirements and/or requested by the Food Safety Manager.
  • Conduct plate counts and record results.
  • Assist in the maintenance of lab equipment.
  • Follow all established micro lab SOPs.
  • Directly communicate any micro or supply issues to the Food Safety Manager.
  • Assist with audit, challenge studies and special projects as needed.
  • Maintain good laboratory and housekeeping practices.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Support the mission, values, and vision of the company.
  • Work with employees of Lyons Magnus in a positive and constructive manner to maintain a professional relationship.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, discretion, friendliness, and diplomacy.
  • Work within a team environment to share information and help others as needed.
