About The Position

Chamberlain University is seeking superior instructors with high professional standards, excellent communication skills, enthusiasm, and a commitment to providing practitioner-focused education. The position primarily involves teaching undergraduate BSN nursing students on-site in Addison, IL, specifically for the course Fundamentals of Microbiology with Lab (BIOS-242). This course covers basic concepts of microbiology, emphasizing medically important microorganisms and infectious diseases, along with lab exercises focusing on aseptic techniques and microbial culture. Courses meet on campus twice a week for eight-week sessions, blending face-to-face interaction with technology for an enhanced learning environment. The commitment is on a course-by-course basis.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree is required for all faculty positions (with 18 graduate hours in the subject being taught for undergraduate teaching).
  • Faculty must have requisite subject matter expertise and outstanding communication skills.
  • Faculty must have excellent motivational and instructional skills in a diverse and non-traditional environment.
  • Must be able to work in a collegial manner and facilitate the efforts of diverse groups.
  • Able to provide official transcripts for all earned degrees from a regionally accredited institution (or a NACES approved US course-by-course equivalency evaluation for degrees earned and conferred outside of the US).

Responsibilities

  • Develops and provides students with an approved Adtalem Global Education syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, including terminal course objectives.
  • Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises and updates all course materials.
  • Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including websites, e-mail, and online discussions.
  • Models effective oral and written communications that engage students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
  • Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight distribution of various evaluation categories.
  • Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
  • Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provides timely feedback to students.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Benefits

  • Expected compensation rate for this position is between $1,120 per assignment to $7,245 per assignment, depending on the candidate’s education and experience.
  • Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law.
