This full-time opportunity is in the Microbiology Department of Clinical Pathology Laboratories (CPL) in Austin, Texas. We are seeking an administrative team member to work on first shift (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) and is available to work Sundays.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or higher in a biological or medical science
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally by phone and email
  • A willingness to learn about new techniques and technologies, with enthusiasm for continuous professional development
  • Proficiency in operating general office equipment, including telephones, fax machines, and computers

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in clinical laboratory processing, problem resolution, or exception handling
  • Clinical microbiology training or experience in moderate to high-complexity testing
  • Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Communicate critical test results directly with clinicians to ensure prompt patient care
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for resolving issues related to incorrect orders, improper specimen submissions, and unique client requests
  • Prepare and send required documentation and forms to public health agencies for notifiable conditions and the mandated submission of microbial isolates of medical importance
  • Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment handling biological and chemical hazards
  • Promote safety, compliance, and quality control within the lab
