GDIT is looking for a Senior Scientist with experience in scientific research, analysis and/or engineering. This position is onsite in San Antonio, Texas. How a Scientist Senior Will Make an Impact: Plans and executes laboratory research including drafts of animal-use protocols. Draft technical reports and journal articles that document study results. Organizes technical data and reports into summaries for management or customer review. Ability to explain technical results to non-specialist audience. Participates in special projects as required. Present research results in public forums (conferences, seminar talks, customer briefings) Position holder participates in investigations of the biological effects of electromagnetic fields applied through direct contact or exposure to radio frequency fields. The physiological and behavioral effects of novel forms of electromagnetic energy and its delivery. Rodent models: Colony maintenance and breeding; rodent handling, restraint, anesthesia, perfusion, dissection; Pharmacological and biological administration; blood and sample collection; sterile surgical procedures; behavioral task acquisition and analysis Cellular biology: Sterile cell culture of human induced and embryonic stem cells, primary cells; stem cell derived 3D brain organoids and 2D cultures; multi-electrode array Molecular Biology: DNA/RNA/protein extraction; qRT-qPCR and genomic PCR; western blotting Microbiology and immunology: Biosafety Level 3 certification; maintain and purify bacterial, fungal, viral cultures; inoculation; culture plate preparation; plaque assay of viral cultures; ELISA; flow cytometry; cytotoxicity assay; spectrophotometry Histology and Imaging: Sample preparation, fixation, mounting and embedding, cryosectioning; confocal, fluorescent, light microscopy; immune and histological staining; image quantification General: Sterile technique; autoclave; media preparation; centrifugation; record keeping; statistical analysis; grant and manuscript preparation What You Will Need to Succeed: U.S Citizenship required Active DoD Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one required Masters/PhD equivalent degree in immunology, microbiology, cell and molecular and/or related fields 3-4 years relevant laboratory experience in academic or industrial setting. Must be a highly motivated, well organized, and independent thinker with strong problem-solving skills, and great attention to detail. Must be comfortable working in a highly innovative and fast-pace environment and have a strong ability to cope with change. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. The likely salary range for this position is $85,093 - $115,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
